Good news! One of the premier keyboards for Android just hit version 3.0. The beta version just got released and is available from the Swype website.
This version comes with major new features including:
As this is Beta software, you need to install it from their website directly (complete details are at http://beta.swype.com/), and bear in mind the warnings on the website before you proceed to install beta software on your device ![]()
I know I’ve been a bit.. well, lazy..
I know I’ve been procastinating.. I know this site is still getting visitors.. so I thought I may as well get down to doing some updates!
I just did a site re-design with a new look and feel (barring the damn logo!! argh.. i need to do a new one again crap..), and now collating some nice little topics to write about. If there is anything in particular you want to see, leave a comment, and provided its not illegal or naughty, I just may spiel about it.
Oh yeah, I’m going to be a lot more informal about things now too.. Am getting too old to remain well mannered and non-cranky.

This was a pleasant surprise for me for sure. In addition to allowing users to remotely deploy applications directly from the website, Google has now included functionality to do a device compatibility check against registered devices.
I have an Asus Transformer Tablet in addition to my Samsung Galaxy phone registered and going into any application, you can now see which device the application will work on.
The market shows all applications regardless of device compatibility, so usually the only time you used to know if an application will work would be when you try and install it. Now, this message would save the users some time as well as looking very cool indeed!

Yup, took the plunge and got myself an iPad 3G 32gig. Already jailbroke it. Expect some iPad and iPhone posts coming through soon.
Because I travel frequently, I wanted to have a device that can work well with my iPhone and can replace the need for having a netbook as well as a paperback stored in my hand luggage.
The iPad has finally delivered an on the go solution that allows me to connect to my work machine whenever i need to, carry a range of electronic books and media with me for the plane/hotel and being able to browse on a larger screen (than the iPhone).
Recently I created a post (turned out to be one of the most popular on this site) to show how to install Live SkyDrive as a Network Drive using Gladinet.
At that time, Gladinet was still a Beta Program. Recently, they released Version 1 and there has been some significant changes to the instructions. I’ve now updated the post to properly reflect these changes.
I’m now using the free edition of Gladinet to connect to my SkyDrive, Google Apps and Google Picasa albums all via My Computer
You can find the article here: Set Up Live SkyDrive as a Network Drive via Gladinet
Hope this helps everyone!
After procrastinating for ages, I decided to give our twitter page a bit of a make-over. Following the excellent guide by Chris Spooner (Twitter Background Design How-To and Best Practices @ Blog.SpoonGraphics), I think I’ve finally come up with a look and feel that I was happy with.

Its a little on the lighter side, but I think it works for me :)
My previous attempts was a little too Web 2.0’ish… so i decided to change the colour scheme around a bit to make it look less so:
I actually wanted a darker “logobar”, but then decided against it.
Anyways, let me know what you think :) and if anyone wants any backgrounds done, I’ll looking for practice :)
Recently I test drove a free screencast application called ScreenToaster (a free application that can record your screen and upload to YouTube!).
You can check it out here: ScreenToaster Article
One of the major gripes I had with the application is the lack of online help support in the form of a Forum. A forum for any product is important as that builds the community and is one of the first places to look in terms of help and support. Additionally, its a place where others can showcase their ideas, tutorials and suggest ways to use the application well beyond what the original developers have intended for the application.
For those who may not know, Google Chrome is Google’s version of a web browser. Currently the market is dominated by clients such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc.
Chrome is Googles’ attempt to create a light and fast browser first released around 6 months ago.
While its still a relatively new application and subject to little quirks, I’ve very quickly made it my primary browser in terms of general use :)
Note: The latest version of Chrome may not play nice with Windows 7 (read: slow), so please be aware of that if you are interested in installing the latest version and you are running Windows 7 beta.
We will write up a quick article on how to download, install and configure Google Chrome soon, but for now, here is the news item regarding its latest version:
Google released a new version of its Chrome Web browser on Tuesday, as the search giant continues its efforts to get a foothold in a market dominated by Microsoft Corp.
The new Chrome represents the first major update of the software aimed at the general public since Google entered the browser business six months ago.
It offers Web surfers faster performance and a handful of new features, such as auto-filling of personal information on online forms and a new way for users to drag around tabs of different Web pages within the browser window.
Google was a distant No.4 in the browser market, with 1.2 percent share of the worldwide market in February, according to market research firm Net Applications.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer dominates the market, with a 67.4 percent market share in February, while the Mozilla foundation’s Firefox browser had a roughly 22 percent share. Apple’s Safari browser had an 8 percent share.
Last month, Google officially joined the European Union’s antitrust case against Microsoft, describing the browser market as "largely uncompetitive." The EU has charged Microsoft with abusing its dominant market position by bundling its Internet Explorer Web browser with its Windows personal computer operating system.
According to a post on Google’s blog on Tuesday, the new Chrome beta loads certain types of Web pages 25 percent to 35 percent faster than the current version of the browser.
The new features were previously available to programmers using the "developer" version of Chrome, but Google has now packaged all the updates together into a more reliable beta test version that is available for download.
Google also has a more polished, so-called stable version of Chrome, based on the older beta version.
